Brief history. The Astrakhan State Medical University is one of the oldest universities in Russia with its rich long-standing history and traditions. The formation and development of the authoritative medical school of Russia, а major cultural center in the South of our country, began 100 years ago. The Astrakhan State Medical University was founded as а medical faculty of the Astrakhan University on the 19th of December, 1918. Then it was developed into the medical institute (1922), the medical academy (1995) and the medical university (2014).
As you know, the history of any staff is created by the people. The Astrakhan Medical University gave the country many remarkable scientists and specialists who studied and worked at the university in different years. Among them there are three laureates of the State Prize, а corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, 10 Honored Scientists of the RSFSR, аn UN employee, а laureate of the RF Government Prize in Science and Technology, two laureates of the USSR State Prize, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Honored Doctors of the Russian Federation, Honored Figures of Russian Higher Education.
Today the Astrakhan State Medical University is а large innovative university providing educational services in all areas of modern medicine. The University makes the top 100 universities in Russia. In 2009, it was included in the register of leading medical and educational institutions of the Russian Federation.
Our students receive the necessary fundamental and advanced knowledge. They have the opportunity to master practical skills, enrich themselves creatively as individuals.
The development of modern medical science requires а constant improvement of special knowledge that the doctor must master for successful practical activities within his specialty. То improve the quality of doctors training at the university new departments are created.
The authority of the Astrakhan State Medical University is high not only in our country, but also abroad. About 2,000 foreign students from 46 countries are studying at the university. Since 2017 the graduates of the Astrakhan State Medical University can receive the European Supplement to the diploma of higher education — Diploma Supplement (DS).
Large and specialized medical and prophylactic institutions of the Astrakhan region, which have the status of clinical ones, are glad to work with the students and residents. In addition, the staff of the departments located at their bases do everything to improve the therapeutic process.

Educational programs.
1. The Faculty of General Medicine implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "31.05.01 - General Medicine". Residency programs and additional professional education programs are also implemented at the relevant clinical departments of the Faculty of General Medicine. The program is implemented in full-time mode.
2. The Pediatric Faculty implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "31.05.02 - Pediatrics". Residency programs and additional professional education programs are also implemented at the corresponding clinical departments of the pediatric faculty. The program is implemented in full-time mode.
3. The Faculty of Dentistry implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "31.05.03 - Dentistry". In addition, residency programs are also implemented at the departments of the Faculty of Dentistry. The program is implemented in full-time mode.
4. The Medical and Preventive Faculty implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "32.05.01 - Preventive medicine". In addition, residency programs are also implemented at the departments of this faculty. The program is implemented in full-time mode.
5. The Faculty of Clinical Psychology implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "37.05.11 - Clinical Psychology". The program is implemented in full-time mode.
6. The Faculty of Pharmacy implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "33.05.01 - Pharmacy". The program is implemented in full-time mode.
7. The Faculty of Higher Nursing Education and Secondary Professional Education implements training programs for mid-level specialists in the specialties: "31.02.01 - General Medicine", "34.02.01 - Nursing", "33.02.01 - Pharmacy", "31.02.06 - Prophylactic dentistry", "31.02.05 - Orthopedic dentistry", "32.02.01 - Preventive medicine", "31.02.02 - Obstetrics", and also implements the main professional educational program in the specialty "34.03.01 - Nursing" (bachelor's degree). The program is implemented in full-time mode.
8. The Faculty of Postgraduate Education implements main professional educational programs in the specialties of higher education (residency) and programs of additional professional education. The programs are implemented in full-time mode.

A foreign citizen applying to the Astrakhan State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia must submit the following documents for consideration of admission (copies of documents must be translated into Russian and notarized):
1. Application;
2. Consent to the processing of personal data;
3. Copy of the passport;
4. Legalized document on secondary education (complete general or secondary vocational education of natural science profile and transcript to it indicating the subjects studied, the number of hours and the grades received);
5. Medical certificate confirming that the applicant has no medical contraindications for studying in Russia, including testing for HIV infection;
6. 4 photos of the size 3x4;
7. Certificate of recognition of foreign education.
A foreign citizen must arrive in the Russian Federation before the start of the academic year (before September 1) with a study visa "For studies at the Astrakhan State Medical University."
Upon arrival at the Astrakhan State Medical University, the candidate must pass admission exams in the following subjects: chemistry, biology and foreign language (Russian).
